Kurt Samuelson, President

With over forty years of experience on nearly all methods of drilling, Kurt Samuelson is regarded as one of the foremost experts in the environmental and geotechnical drilling industries. Mr. Samuelson has hands-on and management experience with a broad range of drilling techniques and equipment, including: hollow-stem augering, direct rotary, air rotary casing hammer, reverse circulation, dual tube reverse circulation (percussion hammer), wireline coring, ODEX casing advancers, and direct push sampling. Over the course of his career he has successfully completed thousands of large-scale private and government projects with many of the leading environmental engineering firms in the United States. As President, Mr. Samuelson is responsible for the overall management and operation of the company, including training and supervision of field employees, project troubleshooting, safety procedures, and equipment purchases.

Scott Traub, General Manager

Mr. Traub supports the project management team with major proposal and teaming preparation, business development, contracting, insurance, and training of all field employees. Scott has participated in all phases of project management, including bidding, supervision, training, scheduling, and health and safety management. Prior to joining BC2 Environmental in 1998, Mr. Traub was an associate at Environ International. During his five years in environmental consulting, Mr. Traub designed and installed a wide variety of remediation systems, including pump and treat, soil vapor extraction and bioremediation systems. Mr. Traub also managed an environmental services company which specialized in direct push sampling. Scott received a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from California State University Fullerton.

Kurt Magee, Operations Manager

Mr. Magee joined BC2 in December 2013. He has been in the drilling industry since 1988 and has almost 25 years working specifically in environmental drilling. Mr. Magee oversees the day-to-day operations of BC2 field personnel and project execution as well as the preparation of major proposals and pursuits. Over his career, he has acquired in-depth experience with a variety of drilling methods including hollow-stem auger, rock coring, sonic, and air and mud rotary. Prior to BC2, Kurt was the General Manager of the Southern California branch of a major environmental drilling provider.

Sam Walker, Project Manager

Mr. Walker joined BC2 in August 2002. Mr. Walker bids, supervises and schedules projects and crews. He is also responsible for the company’s material purchases and yard operations. With over twenty-five years in the drilling industry Sam has extensive experience and training in specialized drill tooling, materials and supplies. Prior to joining BC2, Sam was a Branch Manager and Vice President of Production at Sinclair Well Products and General Manager of Diversified Well Products.

Diego Torices, Project Manager

Mr. Torices has been in the environmental/geotechnical drilling industry since 1992 and started with BC2 in February of 1996. Diego has hands-on experience on most types of drilling rigs and methods including well development and direct push. Because of his vast experience he was promoted to Project Manager in 2007. Diego works very closely with our field crews and clients to ensure safe and successful project completions. Mr. Torices is also responsible for our in-house Smith System safe driving principles training.

Tracy Spilotro, Director of Business Development

Mr Spilotro started in the industry in 1992 as a driller. Mr. Spilotro was promoted to Operations Manager in 2006 at a former drilling company and again promoted to Senior Operations Manager in 2012. Mr Spilotro has a lot of experience in drilling methods which include HSA, Air/Mud Rotary, Sonic & Coring. Mr Spilotro over the last couple of years has been in the foundation/ construction drilling industry dealing with shoring piles, caissons and lagging.

Pat Cordes, VP of Finance

Mr. Cordes, a seasoned financial executive, has demonstrated his strategic financial management prowess across diverse industries. As a Chief Financial Officer with Corridor Capital, LLC, from April 2018 to January 2023, he played a pivotal role in the success of three private-equity-owned aerospace companies. His responsibilities encompassed finance, accounting, IT, and human relations. Pat's achievements included enhancing operational readiness, coordinating company sales, and negotiating debt facilities. During his tenure as Director of Finance and Controller at Precision Castparts Company, he optimized plant performance, introduced cost-saving initiatives, and implemented key metrics for financial success. Pat's educational background includes an MBA from the University of California, Irvine, and a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley. His software proficiency includes Excel, MS Office, Epicor, Oracle, and Hyperion. Pat Cordes is a seasoned financial expert dedicated to operational excellence.

Erica Avalos, Director of Human Resources

Mrs. Avalos has been a valuable member of the team at BC2 Environmental for 19 years, starting in August 2005 as an Office Manager and has since worked her way up to become the Director of Human Resources and Accounting. She is responsible for handling hiring/terminations, payroll, and accounting for the California and Nevada offices. She also handles prevailing wage reporting, employee-related issues, DOT program management, tax filing, and more. Prior to working at BC2 Environmental, she spent many years in a law firm, also handling a plethora of responsibility in HR, Accounting and Legal Administration. Mrs. Avalos is Certified in Prevailing Wage and is currently working on her SPHR.
